December 2011
The current issue of JITP is our first devoted entirely to Integral Medicine. Although several articles have previously been published in JITP relating to healthcare, no single issue has been undertaken about integral applications to health and medicine.

The issue opens with an eloquent argument for integrating the insights of Integral Methodological Pluralism with the principles of evidence-based medicine. Elsewhere in the issue authors explore Integral Theory's utility to diagnose and treat debilitating diseases such as breast cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome; the perspective and strength the AQAL model is lending to a global nursing non-profit organization; insight into the evolving role Integral Theory is playing in recovery/addiction work; and, in a two-part article, an integrally informed psychiatric treatment model. Rounding out the issue is a personal perspective on the meaning of "Integral Medicine" and reviews of integrally informed books by Annemarie Mol and Elliott Dacher.

While this issue is just the opening salvo in defining the field of Integral Medicine, there are seeds for developing deep roots. The authors featured in the issue are collaborating via the recently formed Integral Health and Medicine Center (see the issue's editorial for a description of recent and future events of the center).

Don't forget to renew your subscription for 2012. Several themed issues are planned for the coming year, including issues devoted to Integral Business and Integral Religious Studies. VisitSUNY Pressfor details or to order back issues.
